Cornet
This eight inch miniature cornet by Lafleur & Son once belonged to a Mr. Poulton of Hounslow, London, and was damaged at some unknown point in the First Boer War. The damage is extensive: the first valve cap is missing and it has no shank or mouthpiece. It is a double-coiled, heavily tarnished cornet made of silver-plated brass with a water-key on the first bow. While smaller than a regular cornet, it plays at the same pitch, B flat, for the only difference in design is the consolidated tube wrapping.
